Your business is there to serve your lifestyle; to give you want you want financially and non-financially.
To help you we have created a resource called “Personal Goals Canvas” click here which covers the building blocks of personal goals. We encourage everyone to spend a few minutes thinking about what the business is really about – your life.
First, complete a canvas for now…write down where you wanted to be where you are in each box. This will help you get an objective look at your life to see if there are any gaps.
If there are you can think about what actions you need to take to move towards the life you want – for example, going to the gym, spending less/saving more and having more time away from work.
Next, complete multiple canvases for the life you’re after. Think 5, 10 or even 20 years into the future for the different stages of your life.
When thinking about your goals, it can be useful to consider what you don’t want. But, remember to always write goals in the positive because our minds are wired to help us get what we think about.
When completing your canvases imagine what you’d do if you knew you couldn’t fail – what would you want?
Would you pay for the best private health care, great holidays, supporting your kids financially at university and helping them get on the housing ladder? Would you travel more and/or buy a holiday home?
Also think about giving money away – charitable causes and philanthropy. Are there causes close to your heart that you’d like to support with your time and/or money?
The “why” block is your personal motivator.
It can be difficult to articulate our why because it’s emotional and that part of our brain doesn’t process language. If you need some help you can go through Simon Sinek’s Why Discovery Course click here.
The “values” block is at the bottom of the canvas because this is the foundation of everything we do.
If you’d like to discuss your canvas then get in touch for a review – we can set-up Life Planner software to help you work out how much money you need and Goal Driver to help create the business you need to get the life you want.
